I wish I would have posted about this Relief Society meeting we had a long time ago! This is one of those that you should do in your ward! It was so amazing! It is a meeting all about coming closer to Christ.
A few Sundays before the activity we told the sisters to bring an item to the activity that had brought them closer to the Savior! Alot of women were a little confused at what we meant exactly so we gave a few examples. One sister brought a baby blanket, she said that baby blanket had brought her closer to Christ when she had a little baby that was collicly and she would rock the baby and pray that she would know how to comfort her baby! Another sister brought a picture of a loved one that had passed away and how she had felt comfort and had to rely on the Savior to help her through it. Another sister brought a book that meant alot to her that really helped to strengthen her testimony of the Savior! That is all we told them! Just bring an item!
One the night of the meeting we had a table set up for everyone to put their items on, so no one knew who brought what, but the items that everyone brought meant so much to them that they chose to hold them instead and that worked out just fine!
We started with dessert so that we could all visit and have fun. Once we started the activity we wanted the spirit to be there all the way to the end! We had a wonderful sister give a little lesson on coming closer to Christ, it was amazing! She helped bring the spirit , it was perfect. After that we went around the circle of women and had everyone show us their item and tell us why they brought it and how it had helped to bring them closer to their Savior! It was AMAZING!! It was like a testimony all about Christ and how they had come to know Him.
The items that everyone brought were all so different, but at the same time they were all so perfect! I would have to say that this was one of my very favorite things that we have ever done in our Relief Society! At the end we watched a video that was on you tube. It was the song "He is" by Hilary Weeks. Someone took the time to put pictures to this amazing song!
All in all it was great! If you get a chance to do this activity, please do it! It helped us all to bond together too! If you do it, I'd love to hear about how you liked it!!
I have had so many people ask me for this recipe that I thought I would just post it for everyone! I have to thank my friend Chantell that gave me this recipe! She basically amazing at everything she does, so I knew this recipe would be amazing too! It hasn't disappointed me yet, or anyone else that I know of :)
1/2 cup butter flavor shortening
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 1/2 cups flour
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
CREAM the 2 butters together and then add the sugars and CREAM together! (I like to mix REALLY WELL)
Add eggs ONE AT A TIME and mix REALLY WELL after each one ( when I don't do this, they don't turn out as well)
Add flour, vanilla, salt, baking soda, and as many chocolate chips as you want!
Bake for 9-10 minutes and then take directly off of the pan! I just put them on the counter (because thats what Chantell does) :)
In my experience I have found that if they turn out better if I DON"T make them too big, but thats just me :)
Let me know how you like them! They are fantastic!
I'm thinking Chantell needs to guest post recipes on here! Maybe her bread recipe next... hint, hint!!
I have had such a hard time getting this one uploaded, but finally...here she is!
Hopefully your little girl can enjoy this! Maybe someday I will have a little girl so I can use it too, but until then I will just enjoy my house full of little boys!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! I love being a mom of boys!!
So I will be making a little boy version soon! So keep checking back!
I'd love to know what you would like to see more of! Comment or email me!!
