Not Just for cooking!

My little boy is a magnet for mosquitoes! If we are outside he can have 10 bites before anyone else even gets one! Poor kid!
So you can imagine how well he sleeps with all the itching going on, not to mention he swells up with every bite too, how miserable! We have tried all the creams and nothing really works for too long.
My husband remembered one thing his mom used to do, RUB SALT ON THE MOSQUITO BITE!! I thought he was crazy. There is no way that would work. Well, let me tell you, IT DOES!!! My little boy stopped itching and crying when we put it on. Just wet your finger so the salt will stick to it, then rub it on the bite.
I'm not sure how or why it works, but when my little boy is itching a mosquito bite he says "Salt on it" Give it a try! Now if I can figure out how to make the things just stay away!

A Fresh New Look

We are still busy at our house trying to get our house ready to sell. My little boys room is the next project! We are going to repaint his room to a neutral color. This is one of his walls. I has his full name spelled out in the "smoke" the airplane left behind. He loves it so much! I wish you could see the detail of the plane. It looks so good. It kind of sad to see it go.
Here is another look, don't really know why I put that one on.

On the other wall there is a hot air balloon.

Soon these wall will be blank and brown, sad! If you are wanting to paint something fun on one of your walls, but aren't the best artist, its easy!!
All you need is a projector. Simply find an image you want to paint on the wall and trace it on using the projector and then paint away!
Happy painting!

Bye Bye paint!!

Remember the paint stained driveway? Well, I felt pretty bad about getting paint all over the place, you know since we are trying to sell our house and all. I'm sure a paint stained driveway, as cute as I think it is, is not a great selling feature.

I tried and tried to scrub it off with some detergent and a brush, but that was a no go. Then I remembered hearing something on tv one time, instead of using paint thinner to clean brushes you could use fabric softener, WHAT fabric softener!!! It was worth a try, do you think it would work on driveways?

Well, can't find my camera, but WORK, it did! The paint is G-O-N-E, gone! So next time you need to clean up some paint or clean out some brushed, look no further than the laundry room.

Pretty cool huh!

I looked out the window and what did I see?

I have had this old window in my garage for 2 years, yes 2 years! I've just been waiting for the perfect spot to put it and the perfect saying to put on it. I actually think I just forgot about it to be honest!

I have been on a decorating/crafting/vinyl kick the past few days. I'm positive that my kick is in clear rebellion to cleaning, thats all I've been doing lately and believe it or not my house is staying clean! WOW! Anyways, This is one of the many things I've been doing. This is going in my babies room. He had two big blank walls and I finally filled them up! All I did was add the vinyl, it needed some color, so I added the green and yellow ribbon to match my other projects. I love it! It looks so much cuter in person. I can't believe how adding things to the walls can make such a big difference! On the opposite wall I made these. I took 3 11x14 canvases and scrabooked them with trusty ol' mod podge. I am still going to "personalize" them with pictures and vinyl, but thought I'd post them before that, so use your imagination! I got 3 blck picture frames, 5 dollars a piece and spray painted them white! All by myself this time, no hubby to help out. His spray painting lessons must have paid off because they turned out great. I have added some fun yellow ribbon to the frames since I took this picture and I LOVE THEM. They have really helped bring some color into his room and with the pictures in them, SOOO stinkin cute!---------------------------------------------------------------------

I Finally got my summer blocks finished and delivered to Melissa from Bloggin it. She won my last giveaway. I know I know, its been soooo long, but I tell ya, its been crazy around here! I hope she likes them. I had so much fun making them that I of course made 2 sets. My fireplace needed some new blocks!
Here is set number 2. I like how both of them turned out.

For those of you that don't know how to make these I'll give ya some of my ideas on them.

1. You need a set of blocks, buy some wood, the size you would like and cut your own, its sooo much cheaper that way. We just finished our basement and so did my parents so we have tons of scraps just hangin around.

2. Scrapbook paper. Measure and cut to the size you need. Make them a little smaller than the block so the block color shows through.

3. You can stain your blocks or paint, you decide, both look cute. I just made some in white and I like those too.

4. Get all the ribbon and embellishments you can think of

5. MOD PODGE. Make sure to do a light coat under the paper and on top of the paper. I even use it to put on my embellishments. BE CREATIVE

6. You can either get wooden letters or cut your own letters with vinyl or paper.

Have fun creating your own set of blocks. Its fun to have something totally unique and something to be proud of after you are done. My poor husband, I make him walk around the house with me when he gets home from a long day at work, just to show off all my crafts. Thanks for being supportive!

Family Fun!!

Check out this new wall decor in our PLAYROOM!! The artists are very famous and it cost a fortune! Well, it is PRICELESS to me! My sweet little guys decorated these and had so much fun doing it!! We started with 3 blank canvases. Walmart has 3 packs for $3.00-$7.00 depending on the size you choose. We picked out the paint we wanted to use, also so cheap, grabbed some foam paint brushes ( no need for anything fancy), and off we went to create our little masterpieces.Make sure you paint in clothes you don't mind getting paint all over because believe me it will get everywhere, but TOTALLY worth it. The boys had a BLAST painting on the canvas, the driveway(oops sorry honey), and themselves!
They squealed with delight the entire time.

All in all this was a huge success! The driveway was the only thing that didn't come out the best, so if you're worried about yours, paint on the grass( which we don't have yet) or put newspapers underneath!
The boys even had fun cleaning up with the hose, however we needed a little more help to clean up than just the hose so we went straight to the bathtub!
I LOVE THE WAY OUR NEW ART TURNED OUT!!! It will always remind me of my little guys and the toy room was the perfect place to display it!!
