A Birthday Party, Sports style

We had a few parties over the weekend for my baby! We had a sports theme because he loves to play with any type of sports ball. I made a few different cakes, really this is my first attempt at doing this kind of stuff so they aren't perfect, but I sure tried and he seemed to like them.

My very first cupcake cake. One thing I learned is you need to have a thicker frosting so it doesn't fall down inbetween the cupcakes. I just had the store bought kind, but I thickened it up with some powdered sugar. It ended up working pretty good. Alot of work though (just because I couldn't figure it out), all in all it was fun.

The baseball cake. I actually made two of these. One for each party. The second one I was pushin it for time so I frosted the cake when it was still a little bit warm. Lets just say that cake went into the garbage can, which the raccoons that ate it enjoyed! Darn things, at least I think it was raccoons that tore my garbage apart.

Once I get a little practice at writing on cakes and making decorations on cakes I think I'll get better!

WE had fun though and thats really all that matters, right!

We are still collecting money for Jackson's family! Anyone that wants to donate, please contact me or stop by! I am know they will be so grateful! I am so amazed at the generosity of the people in this community! THANK YOU!! We will be collecting for another week or two!
Anyone wondering why I have been cleaning my little heart out? Well, you're right there was a reason. Our house is officially on the market. We are going to house sit for my inlaws for a year. We are excited, but sad at the same time. ITs so bittersweet. We love the neighborhood and all the great people and the MILLIONS (ok thats an exaggeration) of kids out here. Don't worry, we'll be out here often.
One more subject and I promise to be done. Congrats on making it this far. Anyone see the BACHELORETTE last night? Why do I watch this? I really dislike WES! I really hope that he tells the truth sometime. And I really hope that this doesn't jump start his career. People will see the character he has and hopefully won't give him what he wants. Is that bad of me to think. I have to say I'm not too impressed with the remaining guys. Crazy enough, I was kind of excited to see ED come back. I hope she does find someone to love, but who is it gonna be? Why couldn't she have had a better connection with Jake? He is such a good guy. I really liked the crazy Micheal too. At least we knew he liked her and was sincere. Who's it gonna be? Reid? Kipton? Wes? (NO) or ED? Lets here what you think?

My thoughts on makeup...

Have you ever wondered, should I wear a lip liner, lipstick, a gloss, or all 3? So many people wonder what they should wear and when.

Lipstick and Liner- For the summer and daytime look, I would look for a sheer, moisture rich (preferably with sunscreen) color. Wearing a lighter formula will help give you that younger, fresher (is that a word) look.

Look for a color that doesn't wash you out. If in doubt TRY ONE ON, that is one of the many benefits of buying from a makeup counter.

My opinion on liners..... ok here we go. I think 8 out of 10 times, you don't need a liner. Now there are times to wear them and I'll go over those in second. With the sheer lipsticks you have to be careful if you use a liner because it will leave you with the liner only look. AHH!! If you do I would use a sheer formula that matches the lipcolor.

The only times I would use a lipliner are:
1. To correct any lip shape. Maybe your lips aren't the same on both sides, or you have really small lips. LIners are great to help correct any problems. Be careful when lining the lips to look bigger that you don't get the clown look.

2. To make your lipstick last longer. Say you have a special event and you need your lipstick to stay on, I would fill in your lips with your liner, then put the lipstick or gloss over it. This will help keep color on your lips.

3. If you are doing one of those FULL color lip looks, for example the RED RED lip look, you know the one. It is helpful to use a liner to give you the finished of look with the crisp look.

4. Helpful to use a liner if you have a problem with your lipstick bleeding into any wrinkles around your lips. Make sure you get a long lasting lip liner!

5. I have used liners to change the color of my lipstick, but make sure to blend it all together.

SO there are my list of reasons to use a lip liner. SO for everyday and for a lot of people, they aren't necessary all the time!! Just my opinion!

I love the Clinique moisture sheer lipsticks. Your lips never feel dry which helps to make your lips look bigger too. Another tip....
* Apply your lipstick as normal, when finished, add a shiny gloss, clear or with color, to the center of your top and bottom lipm this helps to give you a fuller looking lip!

Lip gloss- Who doesn't love lipgloss? Look for a formula that is comfortable on your lips. Some are super smooth, some are sticky, some taste good, some don't. So whatever is important to you, is what is going to makes the lip gloss the one for you. I love CoverGirl's, MAC, Clinique, Loreal has some good ones, and Lancome's juicy tubes smell good, but are sticky, I do like them though. My sister has one that she absolutely loves and I think it is BonneBell. SO you can find a good one, expensive or cheap.

I hope I answered the questions that I was asked! Hope this was helpful. Next week EYE SHADOW!!

Some stuff...

Today is my baby boys 1st birthday. Last year at this time I had a baby that was 19 minutes old. I remember how nervous I was to have two little boys and how excited I was too. I remember how fast he came and how scary it was for a few minutes, but I couldn't have been more blessed! The first time I held him I sobbed, like mothers do. Its amazing the love you instantly have for such a brand new little one. Its indescribable. Oh how time has flown by! I can't believe it. It didn't seem to go this fast with my first baby, but I have enjoyed every minute of it, even the sleepless nights.

He is the happiest, sweetest, and most lovable baby (with super chubby cheeks). I can't imagine my life with out him. I love his little giggle and the way he kicks his legs uncontrollably when he gets excited. Even more, I love the way he is his own little person, completely different than his older brother, but I love his funny personality. He definitely has his daddy's funny bone! I love the way he gets so excited when he does something new and the way he stomps his feet just to hear his squeaky shoes. I love it when no one can make it better but mom! Ahh, I'm so blessed!

Happy Birthday my sweet little baby! You have made everyday so wonderful and full of joy!!

Tomorrow I will be answering questions on makeup, ya so much for it being on Wednesdays, I'll talk about lipstick, liners, and glosses, so if you have any specific questions you want me to talk about just leave a comment or email me!

The Ultimate Top to Bottom Tuesday!!

This weeks Top to bottom Tuesday started yesterday. I didn't take any pictures, but I should have . Projects for the 2 days include:

Laundry Room (a job all by its self)

Bedroom Closets ( never knew we had so many hangers or shoes)

Storage Room(even though it is the storage room doesn't mean it can't look nice too)

Floors( I love the smell of freshly mopped floors and the look of lines vacuumed in the carpet, ahh)

Clean, Clean, Clean, Everything

I have to say its been pretty fun! Can you believe it, I said fun and cleaning in the same thought process! I love the feeling of a clean organized house!

Choose one project this week, a closet with old clothes you never wear, shoes that have seen beter days, or a crazy dirty laundry room. Overhaul it and see how great you feel afterwards.

OH, ever tried Magic Eraser for kitchen and Bath???? You should!! It did wonders on my shower floor!!!

Why do you ask this sudden desire to clean? Just because it feels so good.....and more details to follow.

Lets Pretend its Wednesday....

I'm oh so sorry for missing out on our make up Wednesday, like I've said before, Its CRAZY BUSY lately. I've had quite a few questions, I will answer 2 today and more next week!

The first question was about FOUNDATION. What do you do if you want to even out your skin tone, but don't want a to wear a heavy foundation? There are a few options....you could do a tinted moisturizer. Its main purpose is to moisturize with a little tint to even out your skin tone. It feels nice and light and you will barely even know you have anything on. Most likely, you will even get your sunscreen in with it too!! (very important) I know so many brands make very sheer foundations as well. One other option if you have a foundation already that is too heavy and you don't want to waste it, I would mix a little bit of your moisturizer with it when you apply it. This will give you a more sheer application! Hope that gives you some good ideas.
The next question was about moisturizers. Which moisturizers are good, but don't cost a fortune. I have to be honest I haven't bought a moisturizer from the grocery store yet. I haven't had to yet, so I don't know what is the best. SO, I turn the question to YOU. What moisturizer works for you and Why do you love it?

Oh how I love this topic. Next time we will talk about lipstick, liners, and glosses, oh my! Questions on this topic or any other, email me or leave a comment!
Have a great day!!

I've Been Tagged!!

Melissa from Bloggin it tagged me! I have to write down 6 unimportant things that make me happy, so here goes.
1. I love when someone asks for my help. It makes me feel good to think someone thought of me.
2. I love taking a shower in HOT HOT water!! I love to just stand there and get warm!
3. I absolutely LOVE my electric blanket. I don't use it for the warmth, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the satin edge! It is one reason its hard to get out of bed, although, my little boy has staked his claim on it and he's so darn cute how do you say no when he asks for "Blanky Blue" as he affectionately calls it.
4. I love when people leave me comments or become followers. I know it shouldn't matter, but I get excited!
5. It makes me so happy to crawl in bed at night! I am usually so tired I literally crawl into bed.
6. It makes me happy to make new things. We have a craft business and we love to make new things to sell. Its so awesome to see that someone likes the things you make!
I am not really sure who to tag, so I tag all of you!!!

Meaningful Monday!

For todays quote, I thought it would be nice to focus on the men in our lives, our Husbands and Fathers. I am looking forward to Fathers Day and spending an entire day honoring these special men in my life. I am so lucky to have such a great husband, who is so strong where I am weak, who's little boys just adore, who works so hard for us and never complains, and who is my best friend! Here is todays thought!

"Let us reflect gratitude for our fathers.

"Father . . . is ever willing to sacrifice his own comfort for that of his children. Daily he toils to provide the necessities of life, never complaining, ever concerned for the well-being of his family. This love for children, this desire to see them well and happy, is a constant in a time of change."
Thomas S. Monson
Ahh, so true! Lets give those special men in our lives the love and thanks they deserve this week! Why not make it Fathers Week instead of Fathers Day!
A little side note! WEDNESDAYS will be my make up opinion/advice day! I've aleady got some questions, if you have any email me at mimileecanbe@gmail.com and I will pick one or two questions each time to answer! I love talking makeup!

Cheap or Expensive??

I spent a few years working at a makeup counter! I loved it! I got asked questions like- Is this stuff really better than the cheap stuff?, Why? Isn't it exactly the same as the other stuff? Oh, I loved those customers. To answer those questions-yes it is better and no, its not the same. There are somethings that you can tell a huge difference on, but others that, to me, don't matter as much.
So, MASCARA, what is the real difference. This is only my opinion, so take it for what its worth. You can find a mascara in the average store that will work great. It might take sampling a few to find the right brush, thickness, color, and all that good stuff, but you can find a good one. I haven't bought my expensive one for quite awhile and I have been happy with my ol' cheapy.
I just got a sample of a mascara from a gift with purchase and I very quickly remembered the #1 reason I loved the expensive kind. This is the BIGGEST reason.....do you ever get out of the shower and look in the mirror and get totally freaked out because it looks like you have two black eyes, even after washing your face very thouroghly? Is it just me?
I don't love having to buy a separate eye makeup remover and I really don't like scrubbing my eyes to get the mascara off. With the more expensive mascara you are saving your sensitive little eye area from all the wear and tear of scrubbing. I love that, it literally comes right off!

Now one thing I do LOVE, LOVE, LOVE is a primer! Ever tried a primer? You should if you want to use less mascara, have fuller looking lashes, longer lasting mascara, and you want to keep it on your lashes and not under your eyes.

So there is some random info for any of you that might want to know. Wondering about anything else? Let me know and I' ll give you my opinion!

There are monsters in my closet!!

Have you ever had a kid that gets scared at night because of monsters. Simply make a label like this one and put it on can of aerosol air freshner and spray wherever monsters are hiding. It makes your kids feel at ease and they have fun doing it too!!
So we just finished potty training at our house. This is one thing that worked for us to help get it in the potty and not all over the floor. We made this label and put it on a jar with cheerios in it. My little boy would get so excited to go potty and put the cheerios in toilet and aim for them! It made potty training fun and exciting!

Tune in tomorrow for the winners of the giveaway!

*********You will have until Saturday to email me @mimileecanbe@gmail.com to claim you winnings! If the giveaway goes unclaimed, I will choose a new winner on Monday!!************

An award and some GIVE AWAY news!!!

I am lucky to get an AWARD from Melissa @Bloggin it! The Black Canvas Award-celebrating blogs that cram in a lot of different information. I like the call it the award to celebrate randomness and lots of good stuff! To quote from Melissa's blog, "I have chosen them because they make me laugh, they are honest, they aren't all about one thing, like flowers or tablescapes, etc. I love their work and wish I were that good, or they are kindred spirits to me, they are intelligent and they are good writers!"
Thanks so much! I Love It!!
We are to pass this award on and list 7 traits about ourselves. SO here goes
1. I am a positive person. I like to think of the glass half full most of the time!
2. I cannot cut straight, cheese, watermelon, ect. My husband laughs all the time.
3. I can't put lids on straight either! They are always just a bit off.
4. I LOVE my family. I'd rather be with my little boys and my hubby than any place in the world!
5. I would consider myself shy until I get to know someone better, I don't have the gift of gab right off, but get to know me and watch out!
6. It takes a lot to make me upset! I am pretty easy going! But if I do get upset, CHOCOLATE can fix just about anything!
7. I am a person of Faith. I have faith in my religion, my Savior, other people, and myself
I need to pass this award on, I'm still new to the blogging world so I don't know a ton of people, but I am getting better! I pass this award on to:
They have so many fun ideas! Go check them out!
I am so sorry I haven't posted the prizes yet. We have been sick at our house and my Hubby has been working 14 hour days. SO, he hasn't been here to help me cut them out! SO, wow I say "so" alot! I am extending the giveaway until next Wednesday at 11:59 pm. Thats right you have a few more days to enter to win.
I Promise to get the prizes posted by MONDAY!! Just to make it up to you, I'll give everyone who has entered so far an extra chance to win!
Remember tomorrow is Saturday which means GARAGE SALE day!!

Its Done.....well almost!

So here is the table from yesterday. I started off by taking off all the hardware. Make sure to sand down all the old paint before repainting.
Sorry this is kind of a bad picture! After I sanded down the table, I used some wood putty to fill in the holes where the hardware had been. I haven't found what I want to use yet so I just filled them in for now. After that dries, sand down all the extra so it leaves a smooth finish.Next I started to spray paint, my husband was working on another project in the garage and so sweetly offered to help me spray paint once he saw that my skills were a bit lacking! So thanks to my hubby for the spray paint lesson and for painting it so nicely!

This is the semi-finished project. I still have to rough it up a bit and sand the edges and find some hardware that I like, but for now I LOVE IT and can't wait to get it in its permant place in the basement!

Check out this Beauty!!!

Saturdays are quickly becoming my FAVORITE day of the week. Not just because of all the obvious reasons to like Saturdays, but because of the GARAGE SALES.

We decided just to go for a ride Saturday morning. We didn't get up early, just happened to be driving around. We saw a sign saying that another town was having a "Parade of Garage Sales" kind of like our town does. So, we decided to just drive by a few. We stopped often, but not to look, our little boy is "potty training" and kept saying he had to go, I think he just wanted to get out of his car seat.

I saw this table from the road on one of our many potty break stops. I wasn't even trying to find anything, so I assumed this baby was meant to be mine! I scored this baby for 5 dollars. Now I can leave by brown table upstairs and finish this one for downstairs. Yay!

Its almost done. Just need to sand the edges and stain them. Hopefully I'll get it done today and post it tomorrow!

PS. Don't mind the DIRTY DIRTY garage. Its our wood shop, snowmobile shop, and toy garage right now!

Meaningful Monday!

For anyone new to my blog Mondays are one of my favorite days to blog because it helps me to get my week started off in the right direction.
I want to try and help carry the spirit of Sunday into Monday and hopefully every other day of the week. I choose a thought to think about the whole week. The first thought was on setting goals. Go through the meaningful Mondays catagory to read it and set some goals of your own. Feel free to post them on your blog or just right them down where you can see them to remind you!
Todays quote is a good one, it is directed to mothers! I know that most moms I talk to devote all their time to their families. They never think about themselves. I understand, somedays I feel lucky to take a shower or brush my teeth, let alone take some time to get ready or do anything else, but I LOVE being a Mom and wouldn't change it for the world! I am so blessed to have my little ones. This quote I really liked for that reason.
Sisters, find some time for yourself to cultivate your gifts and interests. Pick one or two things that you would like to learn or do that will enrich your life, and make time for them. Water cannot be drawn from an empty well and if you are not setting aside a little time for what replenishes you, you will have less and less to give to others, even to your children............... Turn to the Lord in faith, and you will know what to do and how to do it."
Elder M Russell Ballard
I loved that. It made me realize that it is ok to and I need to take a little time for me, to help me learn and grow and serve those around me. I am going to try so hard to focus on this. I want to be the best I can be!
What do you do to "replenish" yourself, or to take time for yourself? I wanna hear about. If you want to share, leave a comment, or email me, mimileecanbe@gmail.com
I would love to share some of the ideas next Monday to help give some of us some good ideas!
Hope you all have a great Monday!
More news on the Giveaway coming! Check back often for more info. Thanks for leaving comments. They make my day!
